Brushes with Fame

Difficult to recognize--but this is how I would look if I had been lit up by glow sticks and dancing at the Move concert last night.  Vibe, a dance studio in Lindon, put on the show and had guest stars from "Dancing with the Stars" and "So You Think You Can Dance".  The guest stars were great, but the kids from the dance studio were amazing!  So much talent, great choreography and overall just great dancing!  I have never been a good dancer and my experience consists of one hula dancing class taken when I was about 6 or 7 years old.  I chose hula because I thought it had something to do with hula hoops and became quickly disenchanted when it didn't.  I was jealous of my sister's cool tap shoes when she chose tap dancing.   Anyway, I admire anyone that can dance and these dancers were wonderful.  Nice mix of hip hop, ballet, modern, and ballroom dancing (among others).

One of the highlights of the show was Derek Hough choosing dance partners from the audience.  The teenage daughter of the family sitting next to me was one of the girls chosen and she danced well and looked like she was having fun.  Apparently, she had told her family beforehand that she would cut off her right arm to dance with him and so you just know that he made her day (and that her family will never hear the end of her telling the story...)!  I was trying to convince Kim or her stepmother to storm the stage and dance with him but neither would do it-- funny, because they generally like to be showcased and the center of attention (not!).

A meet and greet was announced for after the show in the lobby of the Covey Center and it got pretty crowded with everyone milling around, lining up for autographs and pictures.  I had my camera phone ready to try and get a pic just in case the crowd parted. Glad I did, because after a few minutes Derek Hough walked by right in front of me.  He might have even brushed up against me.  Check out the awesome picture I got of him.  If he ever sees this, I bet he will wish that he had stopped so that I could have gotten a better picture.  Made my day... and I rarely even watch "Dancing With the Stars"...

Other famous people that I saw were....

The Nozawa's.  If you don't know them, you should meet them!  They are great and went to La Caretta's for dinner with us before the show.  They aren't at all afraid to mingle with the little people...

You'll have to trust me that the bright spots in this picture are also famous people.  Mark Ballas (DWTS), Chelsie Hightower (DWTS), and Thayne Jasperson (SYTYCD) were all there.

Don't you just love pictures taken using a camera phone?  Picture quality is lousy and it looks like I was sitting at the top of the Delta Center taking pictures...

Definitely Mark Ballas in this one... and it might be Chelsie sitting next to him.  I thought I had missed her, but maybe not.  All in all, it was a really fun night!
