A whole new perspective...

Went to dinner at Pirate Island with a group of friends on Thursday night and had a great time.  Surprisingly fun for a kid-type restaurant..  As part of my quest to make myself look less serious than one might think and my life seem more interesting than it really is, I had to take pictures with all of the pirate statues around. Would have taken pix of swords and pirate gear too except the little gift store isn't there anymore.   Don't have the pictures uploaded yet, but had an experience that made me stop and think.

One of my friends is a professional in the entertainment industry making motion pictures.  I handed her my cute, little, pink-hearted Flip camera (very professional-type camera) so that she could take a clip of me cuddling up with a really UGLY pirate that no one else would let me take their pictures by...   Not sure if it had to do with the ugliness of the pirate or that they don't want to show up in one of my movies on You Tube...And... because she knows what she is doing... she immediately framed the shot and introduced movement by walking around a pole and then zooming in on me.  Too bad that she is a better videographer than I am an actress, because I suspect I was done with my pirate cuddling long before she finished the shot.. but it opened up a whole new perspective to me.   With still photography, you stay , well STILL for the most part and I've been using my camcorder the same way.  I use zoom of course and even some panning when I'm feeling especially daring, but haven't even thought about moving around to make the shot more interesting and take advantage of the capabilities of a video camera.  Doubt that I can walk and record as smoothly as she did, but I think I'll give it a shot.

Opens up an opportunity to take it one step further than anyone likely wants to go.. but there are probably some life applications to the experience too.  Introducing a slightly different vantage point or moving a little, can dramatically change both perspective and experience.  Haven't fully thought this out yet but I am a little intrigued and I am excited about trying out something a little new.  When life gets a little routine, or a little stressful, or even a LOT routine and/or stressful, I'll have to think about approaching it from a different way.  Anyway, rambling now but I hope this makes a little sense to somebody...
