Like my opinion matters... Wild Flower Grill Part II (restaurant review)

So, I'm a little embarrassed to admit that I went back to the Wild Flower Grill AGAIN and that this makes four times in the last 2 weeks (I'll round up and say 4 times this past month because that doesn't sound as bad...)  But, no sacrifice is too great in the quest for a perfect burger!  And after seeing the burgers and onion rings yesterday, we had to see if they were contenders.

Good timing actually, because the Saturday special is the double cheeseburger combo which comes with a burger, choice of onion rings or fries, and a drink for only $5.  That's a pretty good deal... and of course, I got the onion rings.  We had originally planned on getting a side of rings and sharing them but doing separate combos ended up being cheaper.

First off, the onion rings were really good-- not greasy and had a great onion-y taste.  Mild, rather than overpowering like some onions can be.  The server brought out 3 sauces-- ketchup, fry sauce, and a white sauce.  We asked what the white sauce was and she said she hadn't tried it and didn't know, but customers seemed to like it.  We tried it and really liked it too and so tried to guess what was in it.  Kim thought maybe mayo and sour cream. Turns out she was pretty close.  We asked the waitress to check with the people in the back and she came back and told us that it was mayo and buttermilk mostly.  Discerning taste buds!

As for the burger.. the price was good and there was a lot of cheese on it which was great.  I loved that the bun was toasted... but sadly, the meat was really overcooked.  Still not a bad burger for the price, but not a contender in the quest for the perfect burger either.

Just when we were ready to leave, Sheia came in with her entire family and parents to try it out after reading my blog.  Talk about pressure!  Normally, I figure if I say something is really good  and it turns out to be terrible.. at least I am not there and probably won't ever hear about it.  But, I made some pretty strong claims regarding the chicken fried steak so I was a little curious to see what they thought.   I certainly don't want to lose all credibility or be seen as a blatant liar.  Luckily, at least one person that ordered it thought that it was excellent too and the other said he would try it after I left because HE felt on the spot...

You probably can't really read the sign on the drink machine above but it says that they keep the good stuff (the Pepsi) in the back.. I'm not alone!

  2. Chicken Fried Steak was a HUGE hit with my dad in particular. I think it about put him into a coma-he was very sleepy on the way home. We were all stuffed! Byran did like it too, as did Kayden, who ate 1/2 of Byran's as well as the bacon burger. Mom and I decided that they need to make a "Lu" and a "LuLu" for those with smaller appetites. My dad did down every single bite of his though. I had the Navajo Taco, which was ok-seemed like a lot more sauce than anything else on it. The biggest hit of the night for Karissa was the peanuts. She was very busy with those! We will definitely go back for their sakes sometime(I have my eye on the peach pie shake), and my dad will probably request a trip back for more chicken fried steak. We all give a big thumbs up for the ice also!
