Like my opinion matters... Z'tejas (restaurant review)

Had a late Friday afternoon meeting in SLC  yesterday (terrible time for a meeting, but a productive meeting) and so we drove up for a late lunch and chose Z'tejas at the Gateway Center.  Ok, this is my first ***** restaurant review!  So good; and I'm already thinking of an excuse to go back.  Wasn't busy mid afternoon on a Friday and so the service was fast.  Was a coke place with just regular ice :(   but everything else was wonderful!

No free chips and salsa, but I ordered the chips/salsa anyway.  Came with 3 different salsas from mild to hot.  The middle one was green with avocado chunks in it and was definitely my favorite.

I ordered a smoked chicken chile relleno which had a variety of ingredients inside:  chicken (really? in a chicken relleno?), pecans, apricots, raisins, and jack cheese-- all in a grilled poblano pepper.  But it was the two sauces (green chile and a picante cream sauce) that made this memorable.  So good....

My friend had wild mushroom enchiladas which also looked heavenly and she really enjoyed it.  Even some of the salads on the menu sounded good-- and you know my mantra.. "salads are for suckers".  I was tempted to be a sucker...  Lunch was served with a pan of cornbread that was yummy-  not too sweet like you sometimes get but not so gritty and corn-y that it tastes like it was made from cornmeal and ground up rocks either.  It was perfect!

Was a bit on the price-y side for lunch but would be less so if you didn't order the chips/salsa.  Can't put in a drumroll before my rating since I already gave it away... but here it is:

*****  5 Stars!
