Like my opinion matters... The Blind Side (movie review)

Had to steal a picture of the movie because I didn't see a poster in the theater.  Probably a good thing because I know that I would have been mistaken for Sandra Bullock if there had been a poster and if I was standing too close to it...  Hate when that happens-- especially when those darn paparazzi start following me around.  It's so embarrassing!  We went to the Stadium Cinemas in  Payson this time for two reasons-- first, it is not attached to a mall or to shopping of any kind  (strategic planning since it is Black Friday) and second, they serve Pepsi products.  Even better, they serve a Pepsi Freeze which is basically pepsi flavored ice.  How can you go wrong with that?

The Blind Side is one of the best movies that I have seen all year.  Touching story, and made all the more meaningful because it is a true story.  How many of us would take a big, black kid from the streets into our homes?  Occasionally, I think about doing something like this and really changing someone's life, but then fears and everyday life take over.  Would be a dream of mine though...

One of my favorite lines in the movie:

Who would have thought that I would have had a black son before I met a Democrat? (probably paraphrased a bit because my memory is just not that good!).  Funny!  Might be a lot of people in Utah that have never met a Democrat either...

I also loved the essay that Michael wrote about the difference between courage and honor.  Pretty insightful describing courage as something that anyone can have, even to the point of bravely following others into dangerous and destructive situations.  But honor being the characteristic that leads us to think and courageously do what is right and hoping that our teachers and leaders have honor to lead us into what is right as well.

Great movie! Even though it was about football, it really wasn't.  I loved it and would give it an enthusiastic 5 stars (*****).
